Challenge

A growing organisation approached WINGS after experiencing a noticeable decline in team performance, engagement and collaboration.

Despite having highly capable individuals and strong technical expertise, leaders were observing:

Traditional performance reviews highlighted the symptoms but failed to identify the root cause.

The leadership team recognised that something deeper within the organisational culture was creating hidden “performance leaks.”

Our Approach

WINGS delivered a Culture Intelligence Reset Programme, combining culture diagnostics, Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and Intellectual Intelligence (IQ) principles to uncover the underlying drivers affecting team effectiveness.

The programme explored:

Emotional Intelligence (EQ)

Intellectual Intelligence (IQ)

Through facilitated workshops, team assessments and reflective discussions, several hidden performance barriers emerged.

What We Discovered

The organisation’s challenges were not primarily linked to skills or capability.

Instead, we identified several cultural and behavioural performance leaks:

1. Unspoken Expectations

Many employees were operating with different assumptions about priorities, responsibilities and success measures.

This created confusion, duplication of effort and frustration.

2. Low Psychological Safety

Team members hesitated to challenge ideas, share concerns or ask for support.

Important conversations were being avoided.

3. High Performance, Low Connection

Individuals were focused on delivering results but lacked meaningful collaboration and trust.

The team was functioning as a group of individuals rather than a collective unit.

4. Emotional Fatigue

Several employees reported feeling overwhelmed and mentally exhausted.

Stress levels were impacting focus, creativity and decision-making.

5. Reactive Communication

Under pressure, communication became transactional rather than relational, leading to misunderstandings and conflict.

The Intervention

WINGS facilitated a series of Culture Intelligence workshops focused on:

Participants were given practical tools and frameworks to recognise how emotions, assumptions and behaviours directly influenced team performance.

Results

Within three months of the intervention, leadership reported measurable improvements across the organisation.

Outcomes Included:

Most importantly, the organisation began to close the hidden performance leaks that had been draining time, energy and productivity.

Key Insight

The greatest barrier to performance was not a lack of capability.

It was a lack of cultural alignment.

When Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and Intellectual Intelligence (IQ) were intentionally developed together, the team became more connected, more resilient and significantly more effective.

Conclusion

The Culture Intelligence Reset demonstrated that sustainable performance is not achieved through pressure alone.

It is created when people feel psychologically safe, emotionally aware, connected to purpose and clear about expectations.

By strengthening culture, communication and wellbeing, organisations can unlock higher levels of engagement, productivity and performance.
